Ecotourism, a new manner of travelling.

Ecotourism is a new way of travelling. It is defined as “responsible visits to natural environments where the resources and the well-being of the population are preserved”.

Respect what nature gives us to share

New Caledonia is an ideal destination for those who choose to respect all living things, everything nature shares with us -  people, animals, plant life …

To protect, develop and make discover the treasures of the largest lagoon of the world

Just one example among so many others: amateur sailors know that anchoring near tropical islands may damage the coral reefs surrounding them, which protect their magical lagoons from the effects of the swell. In New Caledonia, where the coral reef extends over 1,600 km, moorings have been positioned to enable boats to anchor, especially around diving sites, without risking damage to the coral.

Walking, bicycling, horse riding  to make unforgettable meetings

Everywhere in New Caledonia you will find long and short rambling trails where you can explore magestic landscapes at your own speed, where the only sound will be your own footsteps… exploring a country on foot or by bicycle is an excellent way of participating in the sustainable development and preservation of the biosphere!

Roads and paths will take you to the farms and villages of Grande Terre, the Loyalty Islands, or the Isle of Pines. Here you will meet friendly people, proud of their traditions, and respectful of the prolific, bountiful nature surrounding them.

New Caledonia is one of the 4th richest areas on earth in terms of biodiversity

In the islands, everyone takes care of plant life: in particular the mangroves, which form a natural interface between the land and marine environment, between the mangrove forests and the sea.  Nature’s waste water filter, the mangrove is home to a highly diverse organic community, and covers approximately 50% of the shoreline of New Caledonia.

The archipelago is also a unique place for the preservation of the sclerophyllic forest – or dry forest – home to very rare plant species. Active campaigns are in place to protect it from fire, erosion by walkers, and clearance.

"In New Caledonia, everything is done to help nature to live and perpetuate itself for the happiness of future generations."
